Welcome to the Beansprouts Day Camp FAQ page! We’re so glad you’re here. Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions families have about our program. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help.

General Information

What are the camp hours?

Camp runs Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with extended day options available until 6:00 PM.

Where is Beansprouts Day Camp located?

We’re based in Park Slope, Brooklyn, using both indoor spaces and nearby outdoor parks, including JJ Byrne, Prospect Park, and Harmony Playground.

What age groups do you serve?

Camp is open to children ages 3–10. Campers are grouped by age to ensure appropriate activities and supervision.

Enrollment & Scheduling

Can I register for just a few weeks?

Yes! We offer flexible scheduling. Families can sign up for individual weeks or the full summer, depending on availability.

Is there a minimum number of weeks required?

There’s no official minimum, but space fills quickly, so we recommend signing up early for your preferred weeks.

Can my child attend part-time?

We do offer Flex Days for families who need more flexible schedules. Reach out to learn more about how that works.

Daily Life at Camp

What should my child bring each day?

Please send your child with:

  • A nut-free lunch

  • A water bottle

  • Sunscreen (applied in the morning—we’ll reapply as needed)

  • A change of clothes (especially for younger campers)

  • A swimsuit and towel on water play days (we’ll let you know in advance)

Do you provide snacks?

Yes! We provide a nut-free afternoon snack for all campers. If your child has allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know during registration.

What is the counselor-to-camper ratio?

We maintain low ratios to ensure safety and personalized attention. Most groups have a ratio of 1 counselor per 5–6 campers, depending on age.

Activities & Trips

What kinds of activities do you offer?

Each week includes:

  • Arts & crafts

  • Sports and games

  • Nature walks

  • Water play

  • Theme days

  • Group challenges

  • And more! Our curriculum changes week to week to keep things fresh and fun.

Do you go on trips?

Yes! We take walking trips to local playgrounds and parks, and older groups sometimes venture a bit farther (via public transportation or school buses) for special outings. All trips are communicated in advance.

Health & Safety

How do you handle medical concerns or allergies?

Our staff are trained in first aid and CPR. If your child has allergies, an EpiPen, or any medical needs, we’ll work with you to create an individualized care plan before camp begins.

What’s your policy on sun and heat safety?

We schedule shaded breaks, provide water refills throughout the day, and plan indoor cooldowns on especially hot afternoons. Staff help with sunscreen reapplication as needed.

Drop-off & Pick-up

Where is drop-off and pick-up?

We’ll email you before your child’s first day with exact group locations, but typically drop-off and pick-up happen outside our camp locations, rain or shine. If there’s a change due to weather, we’ll let you know.

What if I’m running late?

We understand things happen. Please call or text us if you’re running behind. Families may be charged a late fee for pick-ups after 3:00 PM (unless enrolled in extended day).

Communication

How will I know what my child is doing each day?

We send weekly emails with group highlights and updates. Families also receive photo galleries throughout the week so you can catch a glimpse of the fun.

Who should I contact with questions during the summer?

You can always email us at info@beansproutsdaycamp.com or reach out directly to your group leader. We’ll share contact info before the first day of camp.

Do you provide 1-on-1 support?

Beansprouts Day Camp does not currently offer 1-on-1 services. If your child receives special services during the school year—such as support from a para or SEIT—please reach out before applying so we can talk through whether camp is the right fit for your child this summer. We want to make sure we’re setting all children up for a successful and safe experience.

If you still have questions or want to chat more about the program, don’t hesitate to reach out. We can’t wait to have a great summer together!
